Dhaulagiri Base Camp Trek to the west of the Annapurna Range and the Kali Gandaki Gorge. The ancient river continued cutting through the rising Himalayan massif as India pushed its way under the Asian plate, creating the world’s deepest gorge. At one point, below Kobang, the floor is 5,6km below the summits.
The Dhaulagiri Base Camp trek begins from Beni in the lower Kali Gandaki Gorge. The trail follows north-west above the Myagadi Khola that crosses the Dhaulagiri Himal to the Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve en-route to Dolpo. Furthermore, trek ascend to It climbs ridges linking villages with terraced rice paddies and wheat fields. Forests of bamboo, oak and rhododendron are rich in bird life. Hence, beyond Sibang the trail turns north and steadily gains altitude, getting tougher beyond Dobang as it ascends to the Italian Base Camp.
Moreover, Walks to high ground offer spectacular views of the surrounding ice-clad peaks. From the French Col, we explore Hidden Valley which offers superb views of the north face of Dhaulagiri.
The Dhaulagiri trekking in Nepal trail then descends to Yak Kharka, beyond which it drops down to the beautiful village of Marpha on the river. This is a wealthy Thakali village with abundant farmlands and fruit orchards. The prayer wheel outside their monastery is over 1000 years old.
